Dear Faculty,
I am writing to provide faculty in the colleges of Health Sciences and Human Performance, and Distance Education with updated information regarding NEXT STEPS in the FLAC project that will go live this fall. As previously communicated, our primary goal with this initiative is to fundamentally modernize and streamline how we administer faculty contracts, workload/overload, assignments, and compensation. This project focuses on Strategic Priority #5: Operational Excellence and Innovation. By implementing the FLAC (Faculty Load and Compensation) component within our existing Banner system, this initiative will enhance operational efficiency by automating faculty pay calculations based on factors such as course load, contract type, credit hours, contact hours, and institutional pay rates.
This transition will introduce several key changes and improvements (see July 21st, 2026 Communication for additional details on Contracts and Distance Ed payment schedules):
-
Automated Compensation Calculations (Starting Fall 2026-Impacting the College of Health Sciences and Human Performance and Distance Education only): The system will automate faculty pay calculations based on specific factors, including course load, contract type, credit hours, contact hours, and institutional pay rates.
-
Accurate and Transparent Overload Calculations (Starting Fall 2026-Impacting the College of Health Sciences and Human Performance and Distance Education only): By automating these processes, we are reducing contract-related payroll corrections and manual calculations of overload and adjunct pay. Crucially, this system will also provide faculty with significant transparency regarding their professional assignments and compensation details.
NEXT STEPS:
Starting August 13th, 2026, all faculty members in the College of Health Science and Human Performance and Distance Education (including full-time and adjunct) will officially have their load and compensation calculation processed through FLAC, replacing the manual paper process.
Acknowledgement of course load/overload and/or adjunct assignments will now be required by each faculty member prior to September 16th, 2026. Please note that an email will be sent to each faculty member to prompt the acknowledgement. No action needs to be taken until an email containing the request to acknowledge is sent out to each faculty member. Be on the lookout for the email any time between August 31st and September 13th, 2026. The date will vary by college and department processing timelines, as semester instructional/non-instructional and overloads are finalized. If this acknowledgement is not completed, pay will be delayed due to the automated calculations now within our system. Please watch this tutorial for more information on how to complete the acknowledgement process: https://vinu.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/69/Portal/KB/Article/28942/Faculty-Load-and-Compensation-FLAC-Information-for-Faculty
The acknowledgement must be completed by September 16th, 2026. If you have any questions about this process or the FLAC assignments, please contact the following FLAC implementation team leaders in your college:
College of Health Sciences and Human Performance: Monica Tomasik, Secretary II, Health Occupations College Office
Distance Education: Alison Cook, Secretary II, Distance Education
Thank you for your continued support and collaboration on this exciting project.
With gratitude,
Jaci
