How to Request a Laptop
1. Come to the HELP DESK in the Shake Library, Room 146, and request a laptop.
2. Provide all pertinent information and show a photo ID to the staff member doing your request.
3. Sign the Loaner agreement.
4. Inspect the laptop before you leave and note any issues.
5. Return the Laptop to the Help Desk in 2 weeks. You will Have the option to renew it.
Eligibility
● Students will receive first preference, then faculty/staff to aid students.
● The Laptop Lending Program Policy Agreement must be signed each time a laptop is borrowed.
● Only one laptop can be checked out per person.
● Picture ID must be submitted for verification before equipment can be loaned out.
Loan Process
● Requests need to be made at least 48 hours in advance for loaner equipment.
● Standard loaner period is 2 weeks with the option to renew if no one is on the waitlist. The Help
Desk will manage the waitlist if all laptops are loaned out.
● If renewing a laptop on loan, the laptop must be brought in and renewed in person.
● The condition of the laptop will be assessed before checkout and upon its return.
● All laptops must be returned to a staff member at the Help Desk, Shake Library, Room 146.
Laptops should NEVER be returned to the book drop outside the Shake Library Building.
Responsibilities/Information
● Users are required to report any problems experienced with the laptop during their borrowing
period.
● Help Desk laptops come preloaded with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Cisco AnyConnect, and
Zoom.
● Laptops have deep freeze installed and will be wiped clean each time the laptop is shut down.
● Users will be given a flash drive to store work on, and are encouraged to save all work on the
flash drive. One flash drive will be given per user and users will be expected to purchase their
own additional drives if drives become full, lost, or stolen.
● All returned laptops will be wiped and restored to the default settings. During the restore
process, all settings and other personal data loaded by the user will be deleted. No apps or data
loaded by the user are the responsibility of the Help Desk.
