Before Registration
Before a student is registered for courses in the active term, you can update the email address in Slate.

If the student has not yet applied for the active term, the new email address will travel to Banner with the application, and will update the preferred email address of the student in Banner. They will then be able to use that email address to log into their VUX account.

The application feed that will carry the email address to banner will only run once the application has received an RCP. It runs at 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 8pm and 2am, everyday. From there it takes about 45 minutes for the information to update banner.

If the student HAS applied, but not been registered for courses in banner the new email address will travel to banner on a person update feed. Note: this will work if the student has selected courses in slate, but the application has not been accepted.

The person updates feed that will carry the email address to Banner will trigger after the email address has been updated, and it runs at 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 8pm and 2am, everyday. From there it takes about 45 minutes for the information to update Banner.
After Registration
After a student has been registered for courses in Slate and Banner, the Records Department will need to update the email address.

The Records Department requires a “Request to Update Personal Contact Information” form from the student in order to update their email address.

Once filled out, have the student email the form to studentrecords@vinu.edu
Self-Service Preferred Email Updates
Students who can log into their VUX account update their preferred email address in the Student Self-Service Card.

In the Self-Service Card, click the four squares at the top left

Click Banner

Click Personal Information

Click Preferred Email Designation

Enter the new preferred email address in the designated boxes
