Blackboard "Connect Timed Out" Error

If you receive a Blackboard "Connect Timed Out" error, try following the steps below for resolution:

  • Clear your browser cache. Click here for detailed instructions. 
    • Make sure to select "All Time" for the time range drop down selection
  • Log out of VU-X then log back in.

  • Restart your computer.

If none of those steps resolve the issue, try utilizing a different web browser (Edge, Firefox, etc.) to access Blackboard. An additional workaround is to open Google Chrome in “incognito” mode to access Blackboard.


While those steps do work for the majority of users, there are some that still experience the issue.  Should that occurs, you can also try the following:

 

Step 1 - click on the "slider" icon in the address bar (located next to the URL).  From the menu, click "Cookies and site data":

Step 2 - After selecting that option, you'll see an option that states "Manage on-device site data":

Step 3 - click the trash can icon next to each of the listed sites to clear the cookies for that site:
